Like any responsible vehicle owner, you already know that getting timely oil changes is a vital part of maintenance. You might even know that not doing so can lead to severe consequences, from frustratingly weak performance to engine overheating. But, did you know that the brand of oil you use can be an important part of keeping your car running smoothly for years to come? This is why our team here at Scott Robinson Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is proud to use Mopar oil. We’re located in Torrance, CA, and at less than 10 minutes from the beach, we’re a go-to oil change near Redondo Beach and all over the region.
No matter what vehicle you drive, it’ll last the longest if you use OEM parts; that is, parts explicitly designed for it. For Chrysler vehicles (including Dodge, Jeep, Ram, etc.), this means Mopar. To ensure that oil changes result in the highest performance possible and don’t come with unwanted side effects, it’s best to go with Mopar motor oil. While you’ll see plenty of other brands advertised for both a conventional and diesel vehicle oil change in the Redondo Beach region, they may not last as long for your Chrysler-family auto as Mopar.
The brand isn’t the only thing that should be looked at during an oil change. There’s conventional oil or “mineral-based” oil, which comes from the oil found in the ground. It is primarily for older vehicles or those without high-performance parts. Then, synthetic oil is synthesized in a lab by humans and designed for high-performance cars. It contains few impurities and is considered “cleaner.” Finally, there’s semi-synthetic oil, which can be used in most newer cars and cross between lab-synthesized and mineral-based oil.
Generally speaking, cars need oil changes between every 3,000 and 7,500 miles. However, this rule applies more to vehicles that use conventional oil to semi-synthetic oil, and not necessarily a brand-specific blend. With Mopar synthetic oil, your car can run up to 10,000 miles before it needs a change. The same goes for a diesel vehicle oil change, as diesel can naturally run longer. All in all, it’s essential to find out precisely what the manufacturer recommends for your vehicle as well as assess how frequently you’re driving (which, if you live in the Redondo Beach area, will likely be a lot!)
